Japan

All I can think about is the devastation in Japan.

Naively, I watched the tsunami sweep cars and houses in a thundering tumult of chaos and just assumed all the people had been evacuated. They weren’t, of course, how could they have been?

Friends have lost loved ones, people are still missing, the horror of this is going to be around for a long, long time.

I felt I could do nothing to help in the face of such catastrophe, nothing except pray and give. But praying and giving is not nothing and all of us, safe in our temperate, safe, disaster free beds can do it.

Keris Stainton, author of Della Says OMG, has set up an amazing auction site.  Heaps of authors have donated signed books, manuscript critiques, illustrations – all sorts of things. Please please please support it – let other people know about it, do what you can.

Let’s hold the people of Japan in our hearts and empty our wallets on their behalf.

Good idea. I have a Japanese friend here whose family lived inland but who has friends, many of whom are still unaccounted for. Just awful.

Wonderful idea Kathryn. Such an incredibly awful disaster. I too have friends and relatives out there. Some good news from Tokyo and some we are waiting on from a badly hit area.
